Between the Ideal and the Idle
Between the Ideal and the Idle: is an illustrated poetry book long in the making. It’s meant to collect poems I’d written in my late teens, marked by an apparent clash between the youthful thirst for something pure and the recognition of impurities; of reaching for an ideal while wrestling with the idle.
Back then I abhorred the latter—such is the passion-storm of youth, when everything is raw, absolute, and immediate. Today, I can look back at both with appreciation, knowing it’s only by recognizing and correcting our faults that we can truly grow.
The biggest challenge with this project has been finding the right illustrator. I’ve played with the idea of photos, filtered photos, drawings… and different things seem to work for different poems So it’s a matter of finding the right individual/s.
Once I do, it shouldn’t take too long to put together.
I hope to make the eBook available for free download. I’m also going to upload a selection of poems that won’t make it into the book onto this section. So please check back often!
